We are a full service needlepoint store with all accessories related to needlepoint. We offer a unique collection of canvases displayed wall-to-wall and even on the ceiling. We have a vast selection of threads including all the colors of blank canvas.
The Elegant Needle is a one-stop shop for all your needlepoint needs from start to finish. We love to help beginners get started on their first project and the challenge of helping experienced stitchers design a custom canvas or perfect a complicated stitch.
The owner of The Elegant Needle, Catherine Pletsch, purchased The Elegant Needle in 2014 after working in the store for the past decade. Catherine is native to Baton Rouge and started needlepointing with her Grandmother when she was 4 years old (over 30 years ago). Since then, Catherine has participated in formal workshops perfecting different needlepoint techniques and the use of various threads. Catherine’s love for needlepoint is infectious and her main goal is to inspire and encourage others to discover their talents for needlepointing.
Catherine is surrounded by a team of ladies who share her passion for stitching. Every time you enter the store, you are greeted by a team member who is genuinely happy to see you and excited to help you with your stitching needs. Every team member has a different specialty – from excellent basketweavers to finding the perfect thread or stitch. Some of our team have worked here since the store opened in 1994. Our excellent, personalized customer service truly sets us apart. We are always happy to demonstrate stitches and offer our advice on which decorative stitches might look best on your project. Whether you are able to come in and enjoy our unique space or if you need help from afar, we can help you with all your needlepoint needs.
